25 years of meetings, from Fata Morgana to “silver bullet”.

The meeting landscape has undergone a major shift in the past 25 years. From Group Decision Room to Group Support System (GSS). Kayser defined meetings as “a gathering where people speak up, say nothing, and then all disagree”. The effectiveness of meetings has been widely documented worldwide. Due to the lack of efficient management, balanced involvement of participants, and the law of decibel, meetings run chaotically and lead to frustration. Frustrations arise because people feel unheard and annoyed by vocally incontinent individuals who talk a lot but say little. Or because they are irritated by managers who take power and thus obstruct the depth of the problem analysis, frustrating qualitative decision-making.
